It doesn't take a Smeck to see how this acoustic alarm clock should really be tuned. Then again, I wonder if waking to a major chord would affect your waking mood differently than say, a suspended fourth...

ReplyDeleteA feeling of resolution is important, Gary. Supposedly, Mozart's father couldn't stand an unresolved musical passage, so little Wolfie would sneak up to the keyboard at night and play something but leave it unresolved and hanging up in the air. Papa would come storming out and play the missing portion in order to feel whole again.
