It's a Meme!

Last year, there was Uke-y Stardust: a ukulele recreation of David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust album.

This year, I've already heard about two more all-ukulele performance covers of classic rock albums in their entirety.

First up, we have the Ukulele Apocalypse himself (and the glam mastermind behind Uke-y Stardust) Kelly McCubbin and a tribute to Prince:

Purple Rain - When Ukes Cry

The Artist! The Music! The Guitar! Ok, forget about the guitar… “Purple Rain – When Ukes Cry” From the creators of Uke-y Stardust comes something far more ridiculous, a balls-out ukulele workout of Prince’s 80s masterpiece!

Following shortly thereafter, we have The Tatamimats (alter ego of the punk band The Doormats) and their homage to Pink Floyd:

Dark Side of the Uke

Pink Floyd's masterpiece re-imagined in its entirety on ukuleles...and other surprises.

Wonder what album will be next... Nilsson Schmilsson or Son of Schmilsson would be nice!
