Let's end 2025 on an up note, viz, this story about UT Austin assistant professor Dr. Carolyn Phillips, who recently received a 2025 Nightingale Award honoring achievement in multiple sclerosis nursing. Phillips' program is "Music-4MS", a 12-week, ukulele-based cognitive rehabilitation intervention to enhance cognitive outcomes for people with multiple sclerosis.

“It’s an accessible instrument, it’s affordable, and people with all levels of ability can hold it, whether they’re in a wheelchair or not,” Phillips said. “It seemed like a perfect instrument to bring in to improve cognition.”
